The process of becoming certified as a NCI Instructor is as follows:
The State of North Carolina requires that all participants be certified before they can start the process of becoming an NCI Instructor, so the first portion of the Instructor Course will be to become certified in NCI. Even if you are currently certified in NCI you must still receive this instruction. I will teach the NCI material and provide written and physical competency tests which must be completed at the 100% level to continue with the Instructor Course. For the remainder of the Instructor Course, participants will prepare for teaching sections of the NCI curriculum, lead teach selected assignments and receive feedback on their teaching strategies. I provide an NCI Instructor package that includes an “official” NCI Trainer manual, small group exercises, overhead transparencies, curriculum summary and NCI certificates. NCI instruction also includes a module entitled: Adult Learning Strategies designed to maximize teaching skills. Upon successful completion of the Instructor Course, the participants will be designated as NCI Instructor Candidates and will move into the next phase of certification.
The State requires that NCI Instructor Trainers observe each Instructor Candidate for a series of three classes until you are fully certified as an NCI Instructor. The observation hours mandated by the State will be scheduled with me individually.
